Post office refusing parcels again

I'm fuming as my local Crown Post Office is now refusing to take PPI post, I dragged it all the way there intending to then jump on a train and go and meet a friend for lunch and they say as from 1st June they will no longer take business post at all.

I've cancelled my lunch, come home and phoned my business manager who said they are allowed to refuse if they have grounds (I was told the post people collecting are not allowed to carry heavy bags?), and gave me a PO number to call to complain. I phoned the number and the recorded message says to call Royal Mail if I have issues with collection or delivery of post.

So I went back to RM who basically seem to think that using a courier on the days I can't drive to a mail centre is my best option

Is this a strange attempt to get redundancy money out of the Post office or Royal Mail as I can see no other reason why using MyHermes or UPS is considered as a sensible option by RM and PO staff.

I'm trying the phones again to see if there is anyone at all at the PO end that can help who won't just send me back to RM.

I've given up trying to find anyone to help at the PO , none of their help lines are answered by a real person, online chat is broken and so I've sent an email which apparently will be responded to in 3-5 working days.

RM are also having phone issues, I can't access live chat nor get anyone on the phone.

Looks like I might have to use Shutl via ebay after all on the days when I can't drive to the Mail centre.

shocking - I can't actually believe it. And I though counter staff snatching my franked boxes marked "fragile" and throwing them over their shoulder / possible attempt to get me to go to another PO was bad enough.

I could see why Sub post offices would be reluctant as they are franchised? ? But a main post office to do that??

I know they don't get paid to take the bags in. So may be they are thinking they are lost revenue for them??
Even though I have used MyHernes as a seller, as a buyer I avoid anyone selling stuff that use them. As they refused to go to a neighbouring farm due to their track. And ours is far worse so I dought it they would even deliver here.

I am VERY lucky as we have a local sorting office just down the road. And we pick out mail up every day to save Mr Postman coming down our lane.

I've just driven to the mail centre, sat at several red lights pumping pollution out into the air, dropped my bags off and driven home again. It is so much easier to just carry my bags to the PO which is less than a mile away, then shop and come home again without having to use the car.

I've gone via facebook and the PO rep is as mystified as me. He said parcels can be refused but only if they represent a health and safety issue due to lack of space. This is unlikely to be an issue with the PO I use, in fact they said to me that if I did leave any in future, they would just get dumped in the office and left there uncollected. (The drop zone is usually unmanned so it is entirely possible that bags will still be left). Rep also said that there should have been some sort of prior official notification and definitely a warning notice up if policy had changed, and is going to look into it for me.

Just realised I have an issue with this- my mail centre can't take international post that needs any tracking or signature so I am working through my listings to remove overseas options on anything over about £25. I'm also stuck with signed for as the mail centre has no scanners and if I drop off signed for I get no tracking at all or receipt (although they will stamp a duplicate of my order form) and so when I add tracking to my sales it never shows as sent.

Why don't you just find a small post office (non crown) for the time being?

My only local one is not happy about the bags as they have no storage room, this is why I had to switch to the Crown PO even though the staff there are not very helpful (That's me being polite)
