damage costs at end of lease?

Hi, I have just started a lease, am a month into it, and I this morning while reversing my car I managed to kerb one of the lovely wheels :( oh well, accidents happen and I am still not used to driving a car as big as this.
I was just wondering what is other people's experience of how much you get charged at the end of your lease? I remember they told me at the time things like stone chips and kerbed wheels would be rechargeable.

Also just wondering if they give you a figure that you have to pay and you are not happy with it, are you legally obliged to pay literally whatever they say?

What does the lease paperwork say?

From experience its always best to repair anything that isnt under the BVRLA guidelines.

Merecedes tend to be the biggest charger for damages, VWFS are generally quite nice and reasonable but expect around £100 for kerbed wheels.

Get a smart repair done before the salt is put on the roads.

Very little, just says they will assess the car at the end of the lease and anything not covered under general wear and tear, I will have to pay to fix. But it doesn't give any details about how that's calculated etc.

Quite how stone chips aren't wear and tear is beyond me.

I have a Ford Fiesta, the wheels look ungodly expensive compared to any previous wheels I've had but maybe they are not too bad.

Part of me says get it done now or else it might be worse in 3 years time when it goes back. The other part of me says if there will be any other damage to a wheel in the next 3 years then it'll be cheaper to get it all done together.

I mean the car can't be expected to be pristine for over 1000 days. I don't really know what would be worth doing and what wouldn't.

look at the bvrla fair wear and tear guidelines.

do not worry about fixing damage till around 3 months from the end of lease. then assess what it will cost you to fix. you need to be careful with a lease or they will quite rightly charge you as in effect you are damaging and devaluing their asset so why should you not pay? rather than get it fixed yourself sometimes you are better jut to pay the charges. Suggest adding savings to a monthly account to cover this and excess miles at end of the term.

OK I will have a look at those. I am just trying to gauge how much I should expect to pay at the end of the lease.

Yes. it feels massive. I previously had a 2 seater, so rear window is right behind your head, you have a much better sense of place and better visibility, even if the fiesta has bigger windows. plus it was much closer to the ground which helps. it felt a lot smaller car and the Fiesta is a lot wider.
Can't believe I've had it a month now and still hate parking it. I'm sure I will get used to it but not yet.

That being said, it's in the garage for a minor fix today and I've got a KA+ for the day, which feels like a little midget compared to the Fiesta. Maybe I am going crazy but I find it like its huge to drive.

I got a kerbed alloy fixed for £50 before my last lease car went back. On inspection, they wanted to charge me £65 each for two tiny virtually invisible scuffs on another wheel that would have probably polished out with a bit of elbow grease.

I signed the return paperwork and said I disagreed with the inspector, but grudgingly accepted to myself that I'd be charged. A few days later I got a letter to say that there would be no charge. Sense prevailed.

2017 Fiesta is only an inch longer and 2 inches wider than a Mk1 MX5...
