New Driver Insurance Help

Dear Money Saving Members
I have just passed my driving test (I'm 44) but before buying a new car I wanted to compare quotes and input different vehicle types on the details to confirm what difference it will make to the policy cost.

I am worried that if I login and do these checks on comparison websites that I may leave a footprint that will adversely affect my premiums when I do in fact decide on which car to buy.

A bit like applying for lots of credit cards and being turned down damaging your credit rating.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

As long as the main facts stay the same then there wont be an issue. When you start changing stuff thats really a fixed item then it may get flagged up.

ie. Your address should be fixed and date of passing your test and no claims discount.

I did so many quotes on a comparison site they banned me from doing further quotes. Easily sorted with a quick call to them.

In my case the only change was the cars reg.

    As above.

Insurers have to expect that people will enter multiple quotes when looking round for a vehicle. Just make sure the personal details are left the same and there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

You could use a fake name/address but these are checked when quotes are put through online and if they don't match with public records then you may not get a true premium.
