Do I register as unemployed?

I have recently been made redundant. I got a payout from the company as expected.

I have savings so I am unsure if I am allowed to register as unemployed as I don't think I will get any payments. Can anyone explain the tax credits situation as this is the reason I read that I should register.

I also plan to make some investments in property. Would me doing this mean that I am earning as a self employed person?

Thanks for any help

Ajo

    you don't register as unemployed.

    You register as seeking work.
