The 1.4Tsi has been so reliable VW have now dropped it completely. After 4-5 redesigns there have been issues each time.
To stop the confusion shown in this thread, which discusses most of the different variations, they have done another redesign and named it a 1.5TSi.0 -
It would make more sense i agree, if i was to be sensible i would probably buy a cheap car or ride a bike but i/we earn enough i suppose to out-save the depreciation and enjoy a nice car. Also the house savings are going well.
I think i might pass on this one judging by comments above, for now. I don't really like any other hatchback in its class so i do want a golf. I would get a Scirocco or another coupe but i have a 6 year old daughter so i like the extra space.0 -
Why not just stick with your current car?0

That is also an option AdrianC but its a 3 Door so was looking at getting something bigger, the only hatchback with 5 doors i like is the Golf.0

Fair enough i guess you are not mistaken, but i don't think they have a super charger but a bigger turbo then the 122 version?
Ill have to do my research before handing over £10,000... I want another golf and want a petrol, my only options are 1.4TSI 122 - 1.4 TSI 140/150 - GTI.
I would love to get the GTI but i would probably part finance or buy one new if i was going to do that, but i'm trying to get a mortgage within the next 2 years so would rather not take on any debt.
My budget is £9000-£10,500.
No idea, I've been telling him the noise he's hearing is supercharger whine as I thought the TSI was twin charged. Are the newer variants not then?
If it's not, then there's something else wrong.0 -
You've been managing just fine with poor rear access with a small child. Now your child is at an age where they can strap themselves in...That is also an option AdrianC but its a 3 Door so was looking at getting something bigger, the only hatchback with 5 doors i like is the Golf.
A 3dr Golf and a 5dr Golf have exactly the same rear space - the only difference is access.0 -

The MK6 160PS was turbo and super charged
The MK7 140PS has only a turbo0 -

That's true, but we want to have another baby soon
To be fair, i don't really need to upgrade my car yet... i just want to, any excuse.0 -

If the savings are going so well why not buy now or in a year rather than 2 years? Seems a bit daft to waste money on a car when you could get a house earlier. House prices might also have risen in that time so you're paying more for a house while owning an car that's worth less. Not the most logical financial decision.
Edit - just seen last post about a baby too, that makes even less sense. Kids stretch finances so I certainly wouldn't be taking unnecessary extra commitments when trying to buy a house and with young kidsRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Credit score issues from myself, i have a 4 year old default which as destroyed my credit rating. Ive been advised to just wait until early 2019 when it will finally drop? unless you have some advice for me.0
