Eco 7 split

Hello I work at a advice agency and a client as come in with a issue were their landlord are buying the energy and then they are buying it of their landlord.

Now the client doesn't have a Eco 7 electric meter they have a standard meter but on their bill anything they use is being split Day 79.57% and night 20.43% so if they use their heaters during the day it doesn't matter because the total it still getting split at that ratio.

Now the client has ended up with a large electric bill so I want to know can anyone tell me what the average Day/night split would be for someone using a Eco 7 meter with a storage heater at night please and possibly a link to a website so I can show this to the landlord and build up a case if they client is being over charged for this.

Are you saying that the client has a private sub-meter, and the LL an E7 one?
If so, the LL should be billing based on the actual units used on each register-not on an arbitrary % split.
Typically E7 needs a minimum 33% usage on cheap rate to make it economic, but it can be much higher-my MIL uses more like 75% on cheap rate E7.
Also remember that it's no good looking at one bill-you need to work it out over a full year, because the night rate usage will be much lower in he summer with the heating off,and just the DHW coming from night rate, assuming an immersion heater is used.
The LL cannot resell at a profit.

The typical split for Day/Night should be Day:45%, Night 55%. This is for a customer who has an economy 7 meter, and has storage heaters.

The national average night/day is a lower amount at night as there are lots of people out there with E7 meters but not storage heaters.

The 45/55% figure is often used by the industry and regulator in their calculations, e.g. here:

    https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/files/docs/2013/09/tdcv_decision_letter_final_2_1.pdf

However, note that the 45/55% split isn't an official part of the regulator's Typical Domestic Consumption Values - just an assumption they like to use.

Macman's final point is very important. It's illegal for a landlord to sell electricity and/or gas on at a profit. The tenant shouldn't settle for just paying what the landlord asks. They should see a bill from a reputable supplier, and pay a fair part of it.
