Surely they have a record of the account details from which a deposit has been sent? It can't be too difficult to ascertain that if the details match then it's a genuine request? Having not worked with a financial system before, I'm not sure what details they have visibility of.

You'd be pretty quick to moan if they sent your money to an account that turned out to be wrong simply because they didn't check.

Difficult? No. Desirable? No.
I'm sure I would be quick to moan but then improving my understanding of how these systems work will only serve to help me understand these situations better in the future. Thanks for your input though.
