I am about to renew our home insurance but the previous policy was a joint policy between my partner and her ex. We would like the new policy to be joint as well but will we be able to use the no claims bonus (5 years).
Many thanks in advance

You cannot "take over" someone elses history like this.0

Does your partner live with you?
Whose name was the previous policy in - your partners or her exes?
If it was her exes - then no chance, as the NCD would be in his 'name'. If your partner was the main policyholder, then you may be able to use the NCD as it'll be in her 'name'.0 -
Yes we live together in the same house as the previous policy.
The mortgage is still in joint names with her ex (they are on good terms).
The previous policy was in joint names - my partner and her ex.
As far as i can tell from the renewal letter they were both the main policy holder. Although the credit agreement for monthly instalments was in her ex's name.0 -
There will be one one 'main' policyholder and one joint policyholder.
Whos name comes first on all documents? If the credit agreement part is in his name, then it seems the policy is in his name and, thus, the NCD belongs to him.0
