New gas supply - which supplier?
Options
Hi I'm needing a little advice or recommendations.
I'm finally getting a gas supply in my flat, Southern Gas are installing the pipework on the 14th July. But i have to find a supplier to provide the meter. Comparison sites ask me about my usage or current supplier, so i can't get accurate results.
My electric is with a company called E https://www.e.org/ on a pay as you go tariff. My flat is all electric at the moment with storage heaters costing me cost me £110 per month in the winter, but with the heating off during the summer £20 - £30 can last the month.
I plan on having both the meters running as a Standard bill credit meter and pay it off monthly.
I am no longer tied into a contract with E so i can change the supplier if i want to. This is where i could like some advice.
British gas do the deal of free electric on Saturdays with there gas supply. Are there deals like this that i should be looking at with combined gas and electric. Or is it normally cheaper to have the gas supply and electric separate. Or do i approach my current supplier and see what they would offer me to remain with them?

You can still use a comp site. Use average kWh usage figures for your property and put in any tariff or supplier you like-the point is to get the comparative tariffs.
I presume you are installing gas CH and DHW to provide heat and hot water? If so you will probably need to change the electricity meter to a single rate one, assuming that you will no longer want an E7 tariff. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
You'll still need to phone the supplier (whoever you choose) to get the actual meter installed. When I had a gas supply installed by Northern Gas Networks in 2013, I signed up with Ebico/SSE for supply online but nothing happened until I phoned them up and asked them to come and put the meter in.0

Yes it's not as accurate, but you'll only get accurate if you have accurate figures in kWh, so it's as good as it can be in the circumsatnces.
Then monitor it carefully to ensure the estimation is good, or amend as necessaryMy electric is with a company called E https://www.e.org/ on a pay as you go tariff. Pretty sure I heard BG have ended their tariff that offered free electricity on Saturday or Sunday to new applications
It wasn't a good tariff anyway

Thanks for the advice. I ended up going on Uswitch and let them estimate my usage. What i'll end up doing is choosing the cheapest supplier that does a 1 year contract. Then when I'm nearing the end of the contract and i receive the bills i'll be able to get a accurate usage amount to make a better compassion the following year if i want to renew or change and lock in my prices with another company ect.0
