Residence nil rate band

Hi all
I hope someone can help me here please - have asked solicitors twice and they're not responding to me, grr!!!
New Residence nil rate band came into effect from 6th April, Dad died on 9th April - leaving everything to Mum.
Does anyone know if the RNRB can also be transferred to Mum, similar to the existing IHT NRB pot? If so, how do we go about this, is there a form similar to IHT217 to complete?
Thanks!

It can be transferred if not used.
The transfer of transferable nil rate band(s) happen on second death.

Even if he had died before 6 April it was still transferable as it is determined on second death(if after 5 April).0

Thanks - so do we need to fill out the form now, to transfer the RNRB from Dad to Mum? If so, I'll get her to print it out and take to the solicitor tomorrow. Hopefully they will then respond to the query when faced with the form!0

Ah - just eyeballed the form a bit more thoroughly, so no need to do anything with this at the moment. ONLY when it's Mum's time to go (not for a long time we hope!)? Is my understanding correct? Thanks!0
