I'm not sure if the letters changed, but I am 99% certain my loan offer letter from 2005 states clearly my parents were to make a contribution. I remember this well as my dad and I had a very frank discussion which ended up in me getting my first job! The promise I had from him was that he would "see [me] struggle, but not see [me] starve". He was not, however, going to fund a student lifestyle for an 18 year old!
When I get home from work I'll take a look and see if I still have the original offer letter somewhere and post it...0 -
Martin has been saying this for at least a few months, I heard him speak about it on his 5Live segment some time ago. I guess at some point it's been made a lot less explicit in the information provided to students and parents, so he's trying to get it made more obvious.0
