What's this gas pipe?

I cleared a hedge and found a green cover. Underneath are some gas pipes that come up in an arch shape then back into the ground. I think they are gas pipes - anyone have any ideas as I need to remove them!

Cut them out with an angle grinder. If you get blown up, you know they were gas pipes.
Seriously though ... Start off by identifying what they are. This website gives the standard colour codes that should be adhered to :

If they are gas, water, electricity, telecom cables or similar then you can't just remove them. Why do you need to remove them ?
But if you have a genuine reason for needing to remove them, you'll need to contact the appropriate utility company and ask for advice. They are the only ones who will be able to move/reroute them.
My first sentence, by the way, was a JOKE. Please don't go messing about with the pipes until you've spoken to the relevant company.0 -

Can you link to a photo? As others have said, you can't just go about addressing this yourself so you'll need to properly identify them. What sort of cover are you talking about? A manhole-style cover or do you mean some sort of pipe outer? What are the pipes made of? Copper? Plastic?I cleared a hedge and found a green cover. If I am right, its sort of rectangular shaped, about 18" high and 12" wide. Yours is an older house right?
It an access point for gas.
Don't fiddle with it.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -

Do you have a septic tank? If so, could it be part of the vent for that?0
