Two kittens - brother and sister?

Room512, good on you for adopting little black kitties - they are the most difficult to get adopted for some reason. I love them for their shiny coats and their eyes which shine out brightly from the dark faces.
We got them from the RSPCA who said that they were having a nightmare giving them a home as they were incredibly timid and they were black. We just wanted to give two unwanted cats a home and couldn't have cared less what colour they were! All of our cats (past and present) have all been mainly black. I don't understand why people don't want them? We couldn't be happier.0 -
Hi Katey,
we've always had a multi cat household since our first cat died some .... oooh, almost forty years ago. Gosh, that made me stop and think!
IT does seem so much nicer for young kittens to have company while their humans are out at work but a little heads up - it could mean they are not so dependent on you for company and affection.
Our solo cat used to wake us for breakfast, follow us around and greet us eagerly when we came home. In retrospect I think he was lonely and bored while we were out.
Now we have quite a large menagerie. Some follow my husband around, another is particularly attached to our son and one is devoted to me. Whenever anyone comes in through the front door a few little furries will leave what they are doing to greet the person who has come home. There are different friendships amongst the cats.
Rather more extreme than the two siblings you propose getting, who I am sure will initially be very close. But as others have said, that closeness may well lessen over the years. Enjoy them, being a cat owned human is pleasant.'Get Brexit done' is a lie[

Two laps, two cats it was meant to be.
What are you going to call them?Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
I got 2 rescue kittens 15 years ago and they are sisters from the same litter and still in good health.
They've never really got on but tolerate each other. They are not cuddly together but they don't fight. They're easy especially as I work full time and always have done and they've mostly spent their lives sleeping on separate beds. They seem happy just doing their own things.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

I've had 2 kittens (brother & sister) from a pedigree breeder. Two cats (brother & sister) from a local farm. Two cats (brothers) from a rescue centre. I always prefer to adopt two related cats than just one - I feel i t helps them to settle in if there's something already familiar, and of course they can entertain each other:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Make sure that you get them both neutured - just because they are related won't stop them from producing !!
We had two adorable kittens - brother and sister
The male looked after his sister for 6 years until, unfortunately - she failed to come home one evening - this was 8 years ago - he still misses her - as do we !!0 -

Yes, I got siblings - sadly down to one now, but he became far more cuddly and affectionate after his sister died (she, on the other hand, was very affectionate from day one, quite the sweetest natured cat I've ever known - she would return for purrs and cuddles even immediately after you'd had to do something like eye drops, and would even snuggle with the vet! )All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
I heard black cats described today as "house panthers". I love that idea!0

We're quite set on the boy's name now - he'll be Spock :rotfl: because my OH is a big Star Trek fan but also because the first video we saw of him, we noticed he had very pointy ears and was wiggling them a lot when he was being bottle fed. Suits him perfectly and my friend who is fostering him says it suits him down to the ground. We're not entirely sure on the girl kitten yet (meaning we just can't agree on one haha!), so ideas welcome0
