    You will be unable to get a mortgage for the full price - $80k. The best you can expect is 60% (€48k) which means you'll have to raise the remainder ($32k) by some other means.

    Problem is that is not the fairest way if you want to do proper equity shares.

    Can you suggest a fairer way of doing it, if you would be so kind? I'm just trying to keep it as simple as possible.

    I was thinking that if my ex would agree to give me 10k now (half of the overpayment I made), then that issue would be resolved and we could indeed just split the remaining money after mortgage redemption, legal costs, etc, by the original percentages. Would that be fairer?
