A good nights sleep can do wonders for us. It sounds like you have a good plan so if you stick to it then that debt will keep going down and it will be gone in no time.
Change the way you see things and the things you see will change
  • Thankyou. Yes small steps and it will soon be gone.
    Sorted boys room this morning.
No messing. I was ruthless. 5 bin bags gone. And it looks so much better. Now to have a rest before work x

  • Last night we ended up going out for nandoes.

A treat. And it was lovely. I don't feel guilty at all about it. It was much needed.

Tonight is a movie night at home with the kiddies.

I should have a bit extra in my next wages. It's going into savings .

  • I've applied for a loan to consolidate my debts. I know this isn't always advised but the Apr is lower than my current interest rates on my car and credit card. It also means just one direct debit a month which is slightly higher than my car direct debit. The loan covers paying my car loan off. So will only have one debt effectively.
I will pay this in with my direct debits like I do currently for my car. And try and make additional payments each month to get it paid off sooner. But overall it will make all my income and outgoings easier to keep track of.
It says I've been approved but I suppose we will just have to wait and see .

My car is currently 217 per month.
The loan dd is 270 a month. Which I will round up to 300 plus any additional payments. I read all the information and they do allow additional payments and paying it off early. With no charge just reduces the Apr amount and the amount of time to clear the loan.

So we will see I will update when I find out more.

I think the reason its generally frowned upon is because by consolidating you're not really dealing with the initials problems and are more likely to further into debt. I know from my experience when I have consolidated previously it completely backfired on me.

Overpaying won't affect the APR but will reduce the time it takes which effectively reduces the overall interest you pay.
Change the way you see things and the things you see will change
  • Yes I know what you mean.
I will overall have less debt too as I'll be paying a settlement figure on my car which is a lower amount by about £2000

If I get approved for definite. (I never trust these things till its all done) then I will update with a new total and new plan. If not I'll carry on with my current plan.
