There are several websites I have tried to get into and I get this message. One of These is Sunvil Travel who I have used previously to book holidays and until a week ago I had no problem getting into it. This error message also appears on many other website I am trying to enter. What is the reason this is suddenly happened and can I rectify. I have tried running Windows Network Diagnostics but it did not find any reason

Works ok for me, I know it doesnt provide an answer as to why your getting the issue. Maybe try reinstalling Chrome.

Try it with another browser-that will tell you if it's a Chrome issue.
Check the date and time on your Windows device are correct.
    Clear your cache and cookies.
Disable any browser extensions one at a time to see if one is blocking these sites.
My best guess is no. 2.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Edit: As you've mentioned this happens on various machines / devices, I'd suggest its more likely an ISP related issue so a router / modem reboot will probably be more use than clearing SSL cache

    These errors are a pain as there are various causes. A few things you could try;

    Clear SSL cache
Control Panel > Internet Options > Content Tab > Clear SSL state

Reboot modem / router (could also be ISP issue)

There are several sites that offer certificate checking.

This link will show the results from one of those for a domain you mentioned. It shows some possibly trivial issues found.
    https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=www.sunvil.co.uk
    A summary of some...
This server uses SSL 3, which is obsolete and insecure. Grade capped to B. MORE INFO »
The server supports only older protocols, but not the current best TLS 1.2. Grade capped to C. MORE INFO »
This server accepts RC4 cipher, but only with older protocols. Grade capped to B. MORE INFO »
The server does not support Forward Secrecy with the reference browsers. MORE INFO »

Browsers are certainly getting more picky about SSL these days so maybe that is why you are seeing complaints.

I'm using Opera these days and it doesn't throw a wobbly on that domain.

It is not browsers it is Google, they have decided that if a site does not have an SSL cert then it will throw up errors and will give priority indexing to sites using SSL certs.
