Don't want 'mail'

Windows 10 has just automatically updated, it appears to have installed a 'mail' app to my PC, so when I tried to e mail local university hoping to use my VM e mail account it automatically takes me to the new e mail (Windows?) which I don't want, can I install it?
Any advice appreciated, thank you.

(I'm trying to reset Uni password which requires me to e mail them)

In Cortana type Default and select the Default Programs App, and in there select your preferred email program as the default.

You could remove mail using powershell in cortana type powershell and run it
    Get-AppxPackage *windowscommunicationsapps* | Remove-AppxPackage

The Mail app has always been there in Windows 10. Just make sure the mail client you want to use is set to be the default email programme.

This is another anti competitive stunt by Microsoft, it resets default to it's own apps, this needs to be reported to EU Competition Commissioner and the CMA.

Last time the price they paid funded Apple recovery and launched the iPod and the rest is history.

Who knows what the next price/fine will create!!

If you hate the apps as much as I do, particularly that you can't uninstall most of them, then go change their permissions and deny all users access to their files.

When I updated my Windows 10 install to the 'Creators Update' my default applications did not change. Firefox was still the default browser. My preferred email client was still default. It is not normal for the default apps to change with this update.
