City Break in Bergamo

Hi everyone,
wondering if anyone can help.
Planning to book flights to Milan (Bergamo Airport) for a city break in Bergamo from the 21st -24th Oct.
I've had a look around at hotels and I've currently got a price for the Jolly Bergamo Hotel of £272.
Does anyone on here have any promo codes or know of any good websites that might bring the price down a little?
Thanks

Hi
I can't offer any help with the price but I have just got back from Bergamo lastnight and its lovely up in the high town part.
I stayed in the Best Western around the corner from Jolly.
The lower part where the hotels are, both Best Western and Jolly is also nice but the high bit is the place to spend most of your time/eating.
The top Funicular to get to the castle was out of action but a bus number 21 takes you pretty close or you can walk up to the top. If the castle funicular is out of action and you want to walk up, stand opposite the entrance to the funicular turn to your left, walk a few yards then its the road on your right. Its signed up but you need to walk a little from the station to see the sign.

Hi BenL , Can you tell the names of any of the hotels in the 'high part' of town pls - as i'm considering a visit. How far is it from the Local Airpost to the high part of town? Any restaurants in the area you could recommend. Is there much to do in the local vicinity. All advice and pointers welcomed. Best Regards Huggins0

Hi
We used the airport bus to get from the airport to and from Bergamo train station. The train station is in the lower part of town.To get to the high part walking would be 20 mins walk and a funicular ride but its just one road pretty much straight from the station to the funicular - Giovani XXII or something is the road name.
We managed to fill the whole day in Bergamo on the Friday, we got to our hotel about 10:30 as we got the 6:30 am flight from Leeds (plus 1 hour time difference) and headed straight out.
I'm not sure of the restaurant we used and would probably not be able to find it again. This one was in the lower part of the town and was a real authentic italian, no english spoken, menus in Italian with no translation and handwritten so we had fun picking what to eat.
I'm glad we saw Bergamo but also glad we moved onto Milan for the next few dasys (was all planned) as there was a lot more to do.
Our airport bus ride was about £2 - 3.50Euro each and took maybe 20 mins.
If you need a bank the Poplar Banko de Bergamo is the place to go for cash - don't forget your PIN number (as I did for my little used Nationwide card).
The main church/basilica in Bergamo has scaffolding up it at the moment (as did loads of places in Milan) so a little ruined but the top is still visible from a nice square.
Trip Advisor maybe able to help out with a hotel further up as Bergamo is quite popular thesedays with Jet2 and Ryanair flying in. I think when I read it was mainly smaller B&Bs up there.
The best Western we were in was a 4* for about £100 a night booked direct on their website. Nice brekkie and leisure facilities etc and pretty much inbetween the train station and the funicular.
Funicular tourist tickets could be 1 day or 3 days so you can go up and down to the high town as much as you want within that period. These were nice and cheap as well.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep

Also going thanks to the offer with RyanAir. There was a feature on Bergamo in the Guardian recently. The person who wrote it has got some good guidelines here0
