I suggest you invest £1 to look at the latest Which report on hundreds of current boilers. Worcester-Bosch and Veissmann are usually their 'Best Buys'

Regarding your £1,500 budget, whilst all the boilers will be within that price, fitting it might be another matter.

If you want as said: decent, compatible and good quality.

Then definitely look into the ones with 10 year warranty.

I've just bought a Worcester Bosch 28CDi Compact (~£1250), it comes with a 7 year guarantee, but if you fit a WB magnetic filter they'll give you an extra year, and another two years on top of that if you use a WB programmer.

Which do an annual reliability survey of 12,000 boilers, and Worcester Bosch have won it hands down every year for the last six years. They also win on customer satisfaction and plumbers recommendation.
