Please help ! Seat Ibiza SE Copa CR 1.2 TDI Ecomotive Diesel

Hi I purchased a Seat Ibiza SE Copa CR 1.2 TDI Ecomotive Diesel yesterday privately. We test drove it checked it out and there was a incorrect date on re the MOT so the seller got a new MOT on Friday. Today less than a day after the purchase the car steering went heavy the brakes stopped working. The engine light came on stating fault with the engine, the abs light came on and the speedo stopped working. I called out a recovery who hooked a machine up and send there was various electrical problems, the steering had gone and abs had disconnected.

I know I have no consumer rights as I bought privately but does anyone know if the Mot shouldn have highlighted these faults.

I am just thankful I was going slow when this happened but any advise would be appreciated as I have saved for a number of months to purchase a reliable car as I travel a lot for work and uni.

As the car isn't driven during an MOT and you drove it before and it was OK chances are it would pass an MOT (even more so if the seller's mate did it).

Before spending on trying to find the problem get a new battery hooked onto it. It only takes a small voltage drop to cause huge problems.
