SKY Q - record to external HDD

Hello all
I'm new here but really need some assistance if anyone can help
I have just gotten Sky Q but opted not for the multi room package
With the old sky+hd box I could hook it up via scart to my external hdd recorder and then transfer to disc. I have a sky package.
But now as people know the new boxes for SKY Q do not have scart connections and just one hdmi socket.
I have read that I will need an hdmi splitter, I have one of these. But am I right thinking I need a SCART TO HDMI converter so that this can hook up the hdd recorder to the splitter.
Am I right in thinking with the set up above - I should be able to record and extract from the hdd recorder - the sky programs I want - like before.
Also - what can be done if I want to watch SAME channel in the bedroom but do not want multi screen??? Can the magic eye still be used or is there an alternative
Any help - simple as possible language as not that techy would be really helpful

Hi there
May I ask why you say this? Have you tried this?0 -
I have a HDMI splitter to a HDMI to component convertor on a Sky mini to feed one of my Slingbox's so don't see why you can't do what you wish. Though you would need an HDMI to Scart convertor (other-way round to your OP), the same convertor should also be able to feed a video sender to view on another TV though not necessary at the same time as the recorder depending on it's outputs.0

That's great news
Has anyone else tried with good results0
