Baby pigeon stuck on window ledge

Just came home to find a baby pigeon on the outside upstairs window ledge. It obviously can not fly and it's Mum is hovering around on the roof.

Best way to reunite?

If I open the window it will knock it off and fall from a height.
If I manage to get it down. What to do with it? Won't a cat just kill it?

Any opinions

Thanks

How did it get there if it can't fly?

Could you have a couple of people standing below the window with a sheet to catch it as you open the window?
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

Best to leave it for the moment.

Either it will pluck up the courage to test its wings again - it must have flown to the window sill - or the parents will feed it where it is for another day or so.
  • Two choices.
You could open the window and help the chick, or get some short crust pastry and ...

Personally I would go for the latter.

Havnt a clue how it got there as it is under the roof bulk head.. Got two pigeons flying into my son's bedroom window to try and get to it. Lol

Will leave a day or so and see if it moves.

Underneath is a sloped canopy roof above from room window. A sheet sounds a good idea.

    Thanks

Reminds me of an unbelievable co-incidence when I was a child, both my younger brother and I used to go bird watching, and we both particularly liked owls. I even used to sneak out of the house at about 2 am when I was 13 to watch owls in the cemetery. Then one morning I woke up to find a tawny owl sheltering from the heavy snow storm on my bedroom window sill. I called my brother, but he thought that I was joking, and he didn't get out of bed, so he never actually saw it.
Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop

Always leave young fledglings be, especially if you can see/ hear their parent.

They're at risk of being abandoned otherwise

Sometimes birds launch themselves from the nest then lose confidence , so the parents will encourage it to try again.

Possibly the RSPCA will help, but don't hold your breath as the item won't be televised to make them look good.
