Halifax Ultimate Account

Options
Hi everyone,

Just realised Halifax have charged me £10 p/m - not a problem as i appear to get a package full of stuff but i dont know how i go about starting to use them. One of the offers is RAC breakdown, but if i were to breakdown today who do i ring. Also there is the Family multi trip holiday insurance, again how do i go on about using the products they say i can benefit from?

Have i missed something as if not i dont think i was communicated very well, i dont even remember getting anything in the post.

Kind Regards

Dave

If you look in the Welcome Pack that came through the post, they have all the numbers you need ie RAC and Travel Insurance, it will also give you all the details you need on the Halifax On-Line Banking site when you log on.

You can also phone them on 08457 20 30 40. and they will transfer you.

Sorry dont know the Say No number to avoid the costly phone call which I believe is 4p/minute.

The £10.00p per month is worth it just for the Travel Insurance.

  • Thanks VW Man, i hoping the rac covers us both as its a joint account so thats pretty good and like you say its worth it with the travel insurance too.

Dont forget as well that the interest rate on the account is not bad either.

Can anyone see any bad points with any of this, i always think things like this are too good to be true sometimes.

I upgraded to the Ultimate account 6 months ago and used some of the vouchers, and saved quite a bit.

The quote I got for travel Insurance was nearly £300 so I have saved £180 there.

And there is a £300 interest free overdraft.

So all in all I am very happy with the account.

The only drawback I can see is (and most would not agree with me) the total overdraft facility Halifax have given me is £11K.

That amount is far to much for me and could be a temptation, and when asked to reduce it, Halifax say that I should keep it, after all it's better to have it and not want it, than to want it and not have it.........

  • Ive nevered used my overdraft as they is always £1000 at least in there. When you say you got a booklet of vouchers what did it look like i have several booklets in the wallet but dont remember seeing any vouchers.
  • Hi. I have the same account, so far its cost me £120, for that I have used the RAC (you have to phone the number on your debit card, who will give you another number for the RAC!). The car and house insurance was way higher than my previous company, so havent used that option. Cant afford the holiday as work term time and holidays are therefore so expensive. Not sure if I will carry on using the ultimate reward account. Doesnt seem that there is much in it for me.

cearnott - it can;t of cost you £120 so far as the account has only been available since February so you would not have had 12 payments of £10 so far.

The account is not for everyone, but for a lot of people it saves them money and gains them more interest. Also interest free overdraft of £300.

The booklet has vouchers for 10% off car tyres, cheap CD's up to 55% off holidays with Apollo Travel Direct 10% off car hire and many more things also free day's out at over 100 venues in the UK.
the booklet looks like a cheques book.
