Replacing an unvented cylinder - how much?

Hi All,

I have an unvented indirect pressurised cylinder (210L) that needs to be replaced.

Don't think too much work is needed on the existing pipework, apart from those that are close to the cylinder of course.

One plumber estimated the job to be 2,000 inc VAT, including flushing the CH system, with a Megaflo 210L unvented, and a new MegnetClean (100 pounds extra).

I found the Megaflo model online, and it is worth around 1,000 pounds. Of course I can ask him to choose a cheaper cylinder, but the installation costs around 1,000 pounds which to me sounds too much.

I live in Glasgow. Anyone knows how much I will need to pay for replacing a hot water tank, and if the installation costing 1,000 pounds sounds fair?

Thanks,
D

My company charges 800 for the flush and filter on a standard 8 radiator house and I have friends that charge 400 plus vat for just the flush.

The flush can take a day at least depending on the size of your house and then you have a day to fit the cyclinder. You have 1100 in materials without pipework and fittings and then at least 2 days work so I don't think it's a excessive price.

Thank you, Alex. I think I will go ahead with the quote.
