Moving out - What can I take?

Ok.. Odd question, no sarcasm please as I genuinely would like to know?
I have three shelves that unscrew off the wall, I did put them up, so am I allowed to take them when I move? Just a bit worried the bare wall with wee screws used to be will get me in trouble?

Or am I just being silly and all picture frames/mirrors etc can be taken as personal possessions? Just querying as these are shelves ...

Where are you moving out from? Your family home? A rented place? Student rooms?

You should really leave things like fixed shelves.

If you absolutely must take them, you need to fill and then paint over the holes in the wall.

The general view is that if you turn the house upside down anything that falls out you can take with you, the rest (which would probably include your shelves) really ought to stay.

If it's fixed, you leave it.

For goodness sake - what kind of shelves are they? £500 designer shelves? If so and you wanted to take them, they should have been negotiated with the buyer.

If not, just buy some wood and put up new shelves in your new place.

People improve their homes all the time. That does not mean they take all those improvements with them when they sell...........

We have several mirrors fixed to the wall but we would take those with us if we moved. I doubt people leave their expensive wall-mounted TVs. Not so different from shelves - though I can't imagine taking shelving to a new house.

However, the buyers would be told these items were being removed and any holes in the walls would be repaired.

I always stipulate on the fixtures and fittings form.
If they were not mentioned at all, then you can take them but make good and holes or ruined paintwork.

Thanks everyone. Yes they are very lovely oak floating shelves I put up and are quite special features that I loved. So wanted to take. But if they don't come off without leaving marks I'll just reluctantly leave them. Thanks all

Either repair any holes left or buy some cheap ones and put them up in the same place.
