Santander "Forget" Choice on Paper Statements

Hi All,

Just had to re-do the settings in my account to keep on receiving paper statements. I had done this already 2 to 3 months ago when Santander announced they wanted to set the default option to paperless.

Have Santander just had a very Bad Computer Day" that lost all the customers' default settings? If so why didn't they admit to it?

Is this happening to other Santander current account users?

Now I'm nervous that they will keep on being VERY IRRITATING by re-setting me 'accidentally' to paperless every quarter?

Not just Santander. Every account I have pester me to change to paperless, every time I log on.

Yes, I get a similar thing happening on many of my accounts. There is never an option to say "Never ask me this again, Ever!".

What is really annoying is how the sequence of choices you need to make is sometimes like a 'Mensa' test with questions verging on the misleading. "Click 'No' to opt in to paperless statements"
"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"

OP is saying his paperless settings have been changed not that he is getting reminded to change to paperless.

My Santander preferences, paperless and notifications, have not changed so it is obviously not a general issue.

Halifax kept sending me paper credit card statements even though paperless was selected. I reset to paper, next day set to paperless and they stopped.

To clarify - with the benefit of time and your comments: I felt I was re-setting my options as Santander had just run rough shod over my stated wishes and tried putting me onto paperless.

When I logged in, it was phrasing the questions about coming off paperless and returning to statements through the post, that made me feel that I had wasted my time. You should not be doing that, if a period of time ago, if your bank already asked the question and got the answer from the customer.

Lloyds have a very sneaky way to get you to go paperless - unless you read the page very carefully you can very easily press the wrong button.

They haven't beaten me yet though!
