Are these screen protectors for Moto G4 a good idea?

Hi folks,

Got a Moto G4 and got a shockproof case on ebay which seems very good.

I am thinking of buying a decent screen protector as well, not the cheap put on with a credit card type, and am looking at something like this,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-TEMPERED-GLASS-Invisible-Screen-Protector-Cover-for-Motorola-Moto-G4-/201611553938?hash=item2ef0fc2c92:g:L0YAAOSwmtJXb8DE

Seems a more robust option than the cheap types, but just wondering if I have to revove it later is it easy enough to get off the phone, does say that it can be removed easily but a review on a different listing says that the protector can be hard to remove.

Anyone got one of these and have no trouble removing them from phone?

Thanks so much for any advice.
:)

I was given a phone with a minor chip in the screen and fitted a protector like that. It hasn't needed replacing so I can't answer your question but I can see there could be a problem getting it off again. Mine remains as good as the day I fitted it though so for me it's a non-issue.

IMHO, as the phone already has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 you don't really need a screen protector. A shockproof case to stop knocks to the case is all you require. I've the original Moto G from way back and all I have is a slimline backing case, it's been thrown all round and the case itself has taken a few knocks but there isn't a single scratch on the screen in all the years I've used and abused the phone.

Unlike the screens from those expensive devices that seem to shatter if you breath heavily on them, sorry Apple fanboys ;)

Gorilla Glass isn't perfect in any way.
I am using a cheap generic tempered grass with a protective case. I am happy to use them.
Please note tempered glass can be cracked easily to protect the original glass when dropping severely . You would need a replacement

You can find a lot of hands on test at Youtube. (So you don't have to do your own drop test :)

Get a couple of cheap generic ones. I have used cheap generic ones, but it is fine.

Get a cheap and cheerful protective case as well.

It is far better investment than insurance policy and you would take fully responsibility of your own device fate. Even if you would resell your device in the future, your resell value would be protected. I have found that a lot of people would pay extra if your screen is fully protected as mint condition.

I am not very optimistic about Motorola future as it is owned by Lenovo, but this model is upgradable to Android 7 officially and well supported by developers community. (You can keep updating with newer Android OS, custom ROM) I would assume you would be able to use 3-4 years at very least very comfortably.

Are you a phone dropper? Do you keep your pockets full of sand or diamond and tungsten carbide dust?

I've had an LG G4 for 2 years now, it also gas gorilla glass 3. I took a chance of not using a screen protector at all, the leather case is scuffed to heck, the plastic bezel is nibbled and gnarled, but not a single optically important scratch on the screen. In fact the camera cover glass did get scratched up and I polished it out, so it's not that I was being oversensitive using it. I don't keep it with coins or keys, but I don't use anything but the stock glass and had no problems. Just if that helps.

    I agree, unless you're particularly clumsy/accident prone I wouldn't bother with a screen protector.

I am a kind of second user mobile specialist lol. Recently I have got 3 units of Gorilla Glass 3 based Smartphone devices for myself and friends.

I have found very clear scratches for 1 phone and 1 tablet, only 1 phone is no scratch at all, the owner of this phone claims he had used a screen protector since he has got this phone.

Well, we don't have to fuss about small scratches, the below youtube video is a bit old but helpful (Glass itself is impact resistance, not a scratch resistance.

Well, it is up to the user’s intention, as I myself intend to use the smartphone up to 3-5 years, I would tend to be more protective.

I have seen and even replaced broke screen for others. So I would be too much worried about it. But still mind you, the screen replacement isn't cheap. lol

You are viewing a 5 year old video reviewing GG2 which is not really relevant today with GG5, which is far superior, being installed on devices.
That said, using a screen protector is an individual choice and would depend on lifestyle. Personally I never use one and have never had a scratched screen. Then again, I'm a Citybreak person rather than a beach seeker. Were I the latter, I would, probably, install a protector. But, for everyday normal usage...........Nah!!:D
