Quality wood block effect laminate worktop

We are in the process of planning our kitchen and are looking for a good quality walnut butcher block style laminate worktop (ideally we would have gone for real wood but it just seems to hard to really look after). We want something to look as close to the real deal as possible, with a similar texture and a almost square edge.

We have requested some Duropal samples and like the Block walnut but are a bit disappointed with the very smooth slightly glossy texture it comes in.

Can anyone recommend any good quality alternatives or any further opinions on Duropal worktops?

When I saw the title of the post I was going to recommend Duropal! We have the block walnut effect, and I really like the way it looks. It obviously lacks texture, as you are already aware, but TBH properly sanded and sealed wooden worktops don't really have much texture either. And it is nice and easy to clean since it is smooth.

Thanks for the reply. If you don't mind would you be able to PM me a picture of the worktop in place. The sample I have is fairly small and it is quite hard to imagine what a full run of worktop would look like.

Also I notice you are in Glasgow (so am I). Where did you order your worktop from was it online or local?
