Nox Sensor - VW 1.6 FSI

Hi there, I have a piece of junk 04 VW Touran Auto 1.6 FSI which has caused me a bomb in the four years I have had it. About a year ago, the car started revving/stalling when accelerating every so often, usually after driving for 20 mins. Took it to a garage, they told me the gears were slipping and sent me to an automatic transmission specialist. They checked the engine and came up with a Nox Sensor error but cleared the error and drove it around and declared it fine. It kept occasionally revving, took it to another garage who declared it fine. Nox Sensor error returned so took it to an independent VW garage who recommended changing the Nox Sensors, which we did. Now, three or so months later (perhaps more but less than a year), the yellow engine light has come on - and again a Nox Sensor error has returned. I intend to take it back to the VW garage (or scrap it!) but from my limited knowledge, suspect it could be wiring. Can someone advise if this ongoing Nox Sensor problem could cause the revving/stalling? Secondly, anyone able to give me a ballpark for the wiring, if there is an issue with it? If this is just going to be another money pit issue, I might consider giving up on the car. Sorry, I do appreciate these are all hypotheticals and any response would be taken with a huge shovel of salt....
