Concur with most of what the others have said in that it seems a little higher than average but not outrageously so. It's what I'd expect to pay for a fairly premium service, so if a premium service is what you got then it's a fair price.

It depends on the area! People in cheaper areas will say it's high, those in more expensive will say it's low.

What is the point of this exactly?

Thanks for all the replys everyone,

To be clear I wasn't looking for any ammo to file an unfair complaint I was just wondering how fair people thought the pricing was in general, it came in just over £80 of their original quote so yes I know its fair based on their quotation. I also hoped this might be of interest to someone in the future if they ever happen to buy a house of similar value/location.

The company used was indeed an inhouse team, the sale is through Bridgfords and we used their sister company Countrywide for the conveyance (I was aware people say never to use inhouse but as a FTB with no knowledge whatsoever I wanted it to be as simple as possible).

It also probably involved a bit more work than a usual sale as it turned out the house wasn't on the land register and that delayed things quite a while.

Fair point Adam on being of interest to others.

Looks like all is ok, a bit more work cost a bit more £.

    enjoy your new home!

Our purchase was just over £300,000 and we paid £1260 including VAT, was a very smooth process. That was a high street law practice.
