I suppose you are one of these guys who advertises in the local newspapers no fix no fee no qualifications no idea.....:D

So you understand the points I made then. And presumably you spotted those mistakes yourself. If those things are just nonsense (could just be sloppy reporting and/or completely stupid firefighter) it does cast doubt on the rest of it. For a start 40,000 V just wouldn't be enough in itself to burn carpet never mind "spontaneously combust".

In fact thinking about it, I've definitely had static shocks in the past where the spark was at least a cm. So that's 30,000 V minimum right there, don't remember anything being scorched though.

You could train a chimp to build PC's, just like Lego.

Just because you see something in print doesn't mean that it's true! If you did know anything about electronics, you would know that it was bo!!ocks!

That may be the case but its still no reason for someone who should know better to tell a tech novice to put a soldering iron into a PSU...
I though you might have seen the light side of it but it seems a few people here have had a personality malfunction and would rather take the !!!! out of somones post.......Not mentioning any names mascherano.

Firstly, when have I done that? If you're not referring to me then maybe you shouldn't say that while quoting my post. It misinforms other readers into thinking I've said something I haven't.

Secondly, I was giving my opinion on the article as you posted it, not the post itself. There's nothing wrong with correcting misinformation of science. In fact so far you've not actually disagreed with the inaccuracies pointed out so you must agree with them if you didn't already know.

Bit ambiguous in the structure as your post implies mascherano was one example of numerous posters doing that and that only applied to the second part of the post. If the entire post was about mascherano then why quote my post? I read the post correctly it just wasn't very clearly structured as you were directing everything to me. How else was I meant to infer it?
