DVLA - Failure to Insure

I received a letter from the DVLA stating that my car was not insured on the 4th May 2017. I sold the car and the DVLA have confirmed that the Log book is dated the 1st May 2017. The Acknowledgement Letter was dated the 10th May 2017. I appealed stating that i didn't own the car but they have failed the appeal and say i have until the 5th June to pay.
Does anyone have any idea where i can go now?
Thanks
