Praise to Cottam Brushes

When i buy paint brushes i dont buy the cheap ranges i will pay the money to purchase a good quality brush that lasts ( my last 1 lasted 35 years).
So in Feb. this year i decided to get a new brush as my 35 yr old brush was dragging while painting.
So i purchased a Cottam brush from a local trade supplier, at the beginning of last month on using it for the second time i noticed the bristle stock seemed lose in the ferrule ( the metal band that attaches the bristles to the handle) .
I took this back to retailer with receipt , but they refused to do anything saying it was wear and tear, when i mentioned the consumer rights act they changed their reason to it says recommended for use with oil based paints.
Yet it is a 4 inch emulsion brush.
So rather than cause a scene in a busy store, i left to write a letter to their HQ.
When i got home i emailed Cottam direct to get more info on the ins and outs before emailing the retailers HQ.
Within 10 minutes of sending the email i received a phone call from a nice chap from Cottam, who explained that with 100% pure bristles are best with oil based paints, but will work fine with emulsion paints, but even so he says the bristles should not work lose and he asked for my address so they could send me a replacement.
This arrived withing 7 days.
