Ordered currency online for my holiday on 06 september and it never arrived. contacted M&S foreign exchange and they confiemed royal mail had lost a batch!
to cut a long story short, they arent gonna refund me until they receive compensation from royal mail.am i right to be a little annoyed?

Yes.
If card issuer know that Royal Mail had lost a batch you should not suffer as a result.
I would be telling them that you want to be refunded in full ASAP.0
