Claiming on more than one policy

Hello all,
Quick question before I call the insurance company and have a claim registered on CUE I thought it might be worth asking arrh question on here first.
I have recently return from a holiday and BA very kindly destroyed my 10 year old Tumi case and. Have advised that they will only settle for £120 due to the age etc.
A new case is somewhere in the region of £1,400. I travel a lot so it's worth it.
However I have two travel insurance policies one that covers up to £600 per item and one up to £500. Am I able to submit a claim to both insurance companies for the two separate amounts? Effectively getting £1,100 from them or would this be frowned upon?
I would claim on my home insurance however we currently have a large claim going through due to flooding at the moment so don't really want to add another claim to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

If your home insurance covers personal possessions away from the home, you are most likely obliged to give the details to the travel insurer.
Both insurers will make a contribution, however it can't effect your NCB on home insurance. I can't remember the legislation, but contribution claims don't.0 -
If you go through the travel insurers they won't both pay the maximum. They will pay their respective portion based on the maximum limit of indemnity, so the maximum you would get would likely still be £600. If you claim through one, chances are they will seek contribution from the other anyway.
That said, if you make a claim they could even seek contribution from your house insurance too so it may be worth going through them first if they will pay you the full replacement cost.0
