Even trying to explain to ebay when you are selling web hosting that payments are on a monthly or annual basis and not one off payments fall on deaf ears and you need to either place a link in the listing or send a link in a message to the winning buyer so they can sign up to the service contract

I didn't think that was even possible to do any more at such an early stage? Are you sure this wasn't a long time ago?

    arghhhhh

OK which of you lot is messing around with my account - I cannot believe this is just a co incidence.

Message from buyer in my ebay messages ' hi, I got a slip in my package saying to contact you direct if I wanted more widgets as you can do a deal - how do I do this please'

then, and if this doesn't get me suspended I will count myself lucky

' sorry, I just saw you gave me your email address, so should I contact you via that instead of ebay?'

I cannot believe this happened today after this thread. I've tried to save things by responding that buyer needs to buy using the bIN button on ebay, but the messages are obvious so I suppose I am completely stuck.

I have a photo of a piece of paper with my email and phone number on which I attach to a message to get round Ebay silly rules. Works every time.

There are 2 issues here though , and getting message she out is possibly not the main one. When you do send anything eBay don't like they come back and /or restrict you, so sending your details via an image is fine until eBay see it and then you have no way of arguing you were not bending the rules.

For most sellers the possibility of restriction and /or suspension are of far more concern that sending details to a potential buyer.

I'm reading quite a few forums where people discuss ebay and there seems to be a real issue at the moment with these 7 day suspensions/restrictions . Some are utter madness though, one seller sold something and buyer sent a message through the ebay system asking whether seller had any more in the set. Seller, mindful of the warnings, sent back a 'sorry everything I currently have is listed already on ebay but if I do get any more I will be listing them here on ebay so please follow me as a seller'. Seller got a warning for that- although they did phone and complain until ebay said they would remove the warning but not to do it again- but how can a seller stop a buyer asking questions?

For a specialist item like a musical instrument perhaps a shop that sells on behalf of other people might help. There are certainly no other general sites like ebay where you can just browse.

There are such shops, but I liked eBay because it's usually cheaper and sometimes more choice. Of course that's without the warranty/condition check that shops do, but I don't need that. Ah well!
