You're right SJ, it really does help to vent here.

I've been soooo grumpy this week but I'm feeling more positive now. I'm still kicking myself about my driving test. I've booked another which is 2 months away as that was the next available slot. The test changes in December so I have to pass next time. I'm going to carry on with the lessons and ask my instructor to fill in a test sheet every time.

    Positive No.1 (I think) -
Spoke to our agents yesterday, our buyers had been in to see our agents financial advisor. She said its positive and they do have options. She couldn't tell us what the options were but said not to worry. Still feeling in limboland.

    Positive No.2
Also, we swallowed our pride and asked the in laws if they could or would mind lending us £500. They said no. Instead they have given us £1000 which they were planning on giving us when we move. HUGE RELIEF!! I can't tell you how thankful we are! We've put it in a spare bank account and we are treating it as house money. Anything we borrow from this (for driving test and MOT) will be paid back next month.

    Positive No.3
DH has been promised a £4000 pay rise in January. This will make a massive (to us) £220 a month difference.

We are still doing the weekly/monthly challenges but this week I haven't been keeping an eye on where its gone as we have been using cash. I do know that we have spent £110 though. Nothing sold on ebsy last week but I did have to send a refund for an item broken in transit, my fault, I should have packed it better, lesson learnt.

  • Hellooo diary!!!! I've missed posting here so much. To cut a very long story short - our buyers managed to cancel our internet. We have been in limboland, packed and ready to go with no internet, no tv, no games, no craft room since mid August. I'm dog sitting at my mum's tonight and I'm enjoying an evening of internet and carp TV more than ever.
    Anyway....
WE'VE EXCHANGED!!!!! 2 days ago. Moving on 20th October. I can't tell you how much of a stress it has been but, it's over now and we are so excited to start our new life in the country.
In other news, I have passed my driving test (3rd time lucky) and received my pink licence.
All is looking good, money is ok so, I'm off to get some phone numbers and quotes from tradespeople now.

Happy days! Hope everyone is doing well on their money saving journeys? X

  • INTERNET! In our new home!!!
This place has felt like home the day we moved in. It is beyond our wildest dreams.
    Shropshire is heaven on earth.

We have a bigger prettier house with loads of extras we weren't aware of such as apple trees, cherry trees, a full fish pond, blue tits, robins, cows and sheep (out the window). We also have damp, a tree growing in the chimney, woodchip on woodchip on woodchip, polystyrene tiles, a holey roof.... but this can all be sorted in time.

Everyone that we have seen from where we have moved from have commented on how super chilled we are now. Wondering if I need a new diary???

Loads has gone on, so I'm unable to document everything, I will just update from now on I think. Unless anyone has questions?

Today I have mostly been makng a new bills budget, and a new weekly/monthly budget - all on a shiny clear new file of speadsheets (how exciting! No really, it was). All looks good, we have a smaller budget to sort the house out than planned due to buying a necessary new (to us) 4x4 and the bank not lending us some of our equity back that we thought would be no problem. They say we need 85% LTV left if we want to release cash for home improvements (news to me). Thats fine, thats more equity than planned and cheaper monthly payments. So we have around £5000 left for damp proofing which we have decided to do ourselves (we were quoted £15,000!!!) and to sort the roof (no quote yet, we are finding that roofers are all too busy).

We have a bigger mortgage now and we're determined to chomp our ways through it as quickly as possible still so I'm here for the long run.
