Great news on being debtfree! There's a few of us on here with declared cc balances (myself included!) but still plugging away at that mortgage. Shropshire isn't a million miles away from me and your local village sounds wonderful. Are you any closer to a completion date?
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!

Oh wow! Thank you all so much for joining in the celebrations. DH says thank you for cheering us on and it's very much appreciated.
Thanks Wishing, I am buying a house to celebrate, ooh and a tractor :D. I have a handbag that I bought when I got this current job, it reminds me of how far I have come to not be a stuttery mess in interviews.
Thanks Elephant, it is very beautiful.
    Many thanks Greent.
Thanks SJ, currently sat with a glass of white that's been in the house for a year, it's cheap and we only drink red but definitely better than nought.
:rotfl: Ha! That made me laugh Jessy, thank you.
Thanks Cath, wish we were closer! I was saving my 100th post for the good news as yesterday our vendors suggested that we all move 18th August. We have been informed today that our buyers divorce money (for the deposit) is not through yet and their mortgage co will not let them borrow the money from their folks (all news to us). We've been told not to panic, it's just a delay and it will still happen so we are trying to stay positive. A rollercoaster of emotions!

Hi guys! Money is very low, we can't go overdrawn as we want the mortgage co. to still like us, so we are watching these pennies. I'm enjoying thinking about where our money goes and where we can save. We are eating healthier meals cooked from scratch and I'm looking forward to expanding the (tinyweany) recipe book in my head. We did have a bought pizza yesterday which isn't mega healthy but it wasn't takeaway and it wasn't accompanied by 2 tins of cider and potato wedges. I'm not overweight but losing a bit would be a bonus to being healthier too. And yes I will quit smoking this year too (just not yet).

August £100 Weekly Challenge: Total £28.83/£100
    £0/£20 Petrol. £13/£26 Cigs. £15.83/£54 Rabbits, Food & Fun.

Yesterday/Today- £1.84 fruit. £1 bread. £1.76 pizzaYS (was £4+) £0.17 muffinsYS (now in freezer). £6.06 wine (to take to dinner at MIL's). £5 mcbreakfast (DH whilst I was out this morning lol).

August Monthly Challenge: Magic up £96.65/£164
Today - Total to find has gone up by £50, DH has set a new car insurance up and they take 3months worth for 4 months so it's £87 this month instead of the £30 planned.
Also today my 3hr driving lesson was £60 not £75 as budgeted so I've added this £15 to the magic money.
My driving lesson was good. 2nd test not too far away. I'm not 100% confident it will be my last but I really want a pink card in my wallet now.

  • Huge congratulations on becoming debt free!!! I hope everything completes very soon :)
  • Ok, so I hope no one thinks I'm looking for sympathy, I'm not. I'm writing this so that one day I can look back at all the stress and hopefully laugh about it. That day is not today.

Fail - Driving test - changed gear too early and jolted, stoopid mistake.

    Fail - MOT - £200+ to fix.

Fail - Release mortgage overpayments back - you can only under pay in future.

Fail - Sell nan's engagement ring - Jewellers offered £28 for the gold so I have kept it.

Had better days. Trying to think of a plan C which doesn't involve borrowing from the in laws. They'd happily help but I don't want to ask. We've managed to stand on our own two feet this far (with the help of banks when needed).

To end on a positive note, yes indeed there is a positive today thankfully!!!. Our buyers ex has secured a mortgage on their house. So as soon as their solicitors have done their thang they can transfer her share and we should be all good to go with the move. This is the main news that we needed to be positive today, everything else can be sorted one way or another. See! I'm feeling better already. Thanks diary x

    Thanks Jessy x
Still not laughing about it yet.
Our sellers sellers are threatening to put their bungalow back on the market due to our buyers not giving any sort of indication of the time it may take to secure their deposit. What a pile of poo! Our sellers will be devastated if they do, I really feel for them, they need a bungalow ASAP and they don't come up often for the price they need in the location they require. And they will still have forked out for a survey and have to pay the solicitors fees.
How is it fair to offer to buy a house without securing a deposit first? Yes I'm well aware that life isn't fair but someone should make this game more fair.

Fingers crossed everyone stays in the chain and this is all sorted very very soon!
