I don't actually understand how apprenticeships work, but it might be useful to the forum to unpick this. You get paid for 4 days a week and go to college 1 day a week, don't you? Or do you get paid for your college time as well?

I ask because this sounds more like a college thing. If you get paid full time (I appreciate your hourly rate is very low) then I think they should pay for the time spent sitting the exam. If your college time is unpaid, then I don't see why they should pay.

in my case my apprenticeship is completed entirely while i work. I do all my coursework in my own time, i have an assessor who comes out to the setting every now and then. no college involved. in 5 days a week

Hold on, is this a proper apprenticeship, then? The govt site on apprenticeships says (my emphasis)

    Your apprentice must:
    • work with experienced staff
    • learn job-specific skills
    • study during their working week (for example, at a college or training organisation)
And, in the section 'Hiring your apprentice' the employer is told that one of the essential steps is 'Find an organisation that offers training for the apprenticeship framework or standard you’ve chosen.'
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

The provider is Wessex training. Apparently theyre based in weymouth. :/ im in wiltshire, so its quite a distance. Before i took on the apprenticeship i was originally casual help. It was a really nice place to work before i took the apprenticeship

When I did my accountancy apprenticeship I had to do the coursework & revision for my exams outside of work & college because of the nature of the course.
