Can I claim ICT exam as overtime for work based apprenticeship?

Hiya
I was wondering if anyone knew if I could claim overtime used in setting for a ICT exam I have to take as part of my work based apprenticeship
Wasn't due in on the day workwise, but came in over and above to do the exam. Asked management but they were very vague and confusing!

Sounds like you think you are doing them the favor!!??0

We don't know what your employer's policy is.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0

What benefit is there to the company in you sitting this exam? Why do you think they ought to pay you for it?0

If your managers are vague and don't know the answer, I suspect it's going to be a 'No' in the end. It will be down to company policy - if they have a policy on that.0

...... I don't think I am "doing them the favor" I was told to do this exam as part of my apprenticeship. By them. (employer). Its an updated one than one I already have. The company requested I do it. It is not a personal benefit. I have done a lot for the company, staying on over and above when senior staff have had to go home for childcare reasons, health, appointments, etc. If people could try not to automatically assume the worst of me, then that would be fab. I only get paid 3.50 an hour, (doing nearly 50 hours a week,) am trying to save to help my family as well as getting qualified so yes, I was curious if any other apprentices on here knew anything regarding the exam policy and apprenticeships. Sorry for clearly annoying people. -_-"No one can change the past. The only thing we can do is strive to make up for our mistakes. Why must we make up for our mistakes, you ask? It is down to the employer but I would think it would be a no you cant claim overtime. I wouldnt think you would think too kindly if you went for the exam on a day you were in work & then you were asked to work the hours back. They (& the training provider) are, I assume, paying for the course fees along with the exam fees which is saving you a packet...
edit: I have done a full apprenticeship.Dwy galon, un dyhead,

I appreciate that. I was just curious that was all. I honestly wasn't wanting to get into a big argument with anyone over it. My issue with the apprenticeship was previously that I had ended up working hours where I hadn't been paid, told "that was the way it was" hence why I ended up curious about the exam. Oh well.thank you anyway. Thats all I really needed to know

But why have they requested you do it? Is it because it's a condition of your apprenticeship placed on them by government, or is there an actual benefit for them in you having it? Is it essential to their business, or can they advertise that you have it, or charge you out at a higher rate?
If any of these things are the case then you have a justification in asking for them to pay for you to sit it.0 -

You know that is a good question, stupid as it sounds, hasn't thought of that. I am just gonna leave it anyway (the whole overtime thing) but for curiosity sake I will look into thatcheers! (I would have asked previously but due to my place of employment being severely short staffed and a lot of service users to care for having the chance to think on such tthings is limited )

I don't actually understand how apprenticeships work, but it might be useful to the forum to unpick this. You get paid for 4 days a week and go to college 1 day a week, don't you? Or do you get paid for your college time as well?
I ask because this sounds more like a college thing. If you get paid full time (I appreciate your hourly rate is very low) then I think they should pay for the time spent sitting the exam. If your college time is unpaid, then I don't see why they should pay.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
