hi, i have a tax rebate, but i have a few problems with id, only photo id i have is in date but has different address, biggest issue is its been revoked, although i have letter for the address the rebate has been sent to and is the same address my bank has.
am i still able to use the driving licence as id, it is the only photo id i have, also i dont drive anymore which is why i have not updated it as i dont drive.
i could just put the cheque into my bank but it will clear after this weekend bank holoday, would prefer to have cash before that as i am skint lol, thanks

the only photo id they require that i have is my photocard driving licence but this has been revoked so if they check the number against the dvla database it will say revoked, i am not sure they will accept this as acceptable id
  • If you bank it Wednesday morning it might clear by friday, you used to be able to pay a small fee for it to be credited to your account in 24 hours not sure if they still do that?

You can't send government cheques 'direct' as it was called.
A cheque paid in tomorrow will clear on Saturday - how much can you get out via an ATM (if your branch is not open?)

I doubt they will bother about the licence being revoked. The usual reason for asking for a photo id is to verify your face against the photograph. But until you present it you will not know.

You could try telling them that you do not have a passport and do not drive and offer other official documents?

Would a local tax office pay you in cash?

I don't understand, I don't need any ID to pay cheques into my account?

OP does not want to pay the cheque into their account - they want to cash it so they do not have to wait for it to clear - they have not said where they plan to cash it but I expect it is one of the places that take a % to provide the service

How does that work if the cheque is made out to the OP? Cheque cashing places normally take a cheque made out to cash or to the store itself.
