Is there any real need for me to be at the property during the end Inventory check?

I need to leave ahead of the removals van to get to sign the tenancy agreement at the new place and be at the property to meet them.
The inventory person for my current place that is ending told me today that all stuff needs to be out when he does the inventory.
If that is the case I would need to wait around for the removals people to load up and go with my stuff and then do the inventory and only then leave. Conversely if I am not present the guy said I can leave the keys with the concierge and he will do it later on.
So is there a real reason for me to be there? If the place is clean and tidy what do I need to be there for?
If there is a big reason to stay I will but otherwise it will be easier to just leave the keys for him to do it later.

Just take photos before you leave0

It's not usual for tenants to be present. Indeed the check is often done after the tenancy has ended (eg next day) when the tenant has no right to be there at all.
Make sure everything is left that apears on the inventory, read (and photograph?) the meters, leave the place at least as clean as you found it, and take lots of photos.0 -
Ah the guy just confirmed it was only so that I could deliver the keys back to him but we arranged that I can leave them with the concierge.
All good then.0 -
Ask conciege for a receipt (or give him a pre-written receipt to sign).0
