Buying via Carwow
Hi
I'm thinking of using Carwow to buy my new car - I have a couple of questions for anyone out there who has bought via them in the past (or any similar sites)
1. There are only 2 local dealerships for the type of car I'm after. Rightly-or-wrongly I asked both if they would go anywhere near matching Carwow quotes. Both declined, claiming that it was worth paying extra for "good local professional service". Hmm, we're talking about an extra £4000 here.
2. I know that a Carwow quote states that the prices are "No haggle prices" but I wondered if anyone had chanced their arm with them and managed to get an even better deal or added extras. If they state "no haggle prices" I just wondered if that is written in stone and if I got to the stage of haggling with the dealership itself they would look at me as if I'd trodden something nasty in to their showroom.
Any advice would be appreciated as buying via the Interweb would be a first for me.....so be gentle

You can still discuss the price with the dealer, the "no haggle prices" just means you don't have to haggle to get those prices0

Hi,
Not sure if this is too late for you now, but I've bought my new car via CarWow and it was a really impressive service from end to end. It saved me £6k on a £27k car. Couple of important points to note:
- You are not actually buying from Carwow, you are buying from the dealership. Carwow just acts as a price aggregator to get you the best price from the various dealerships nationwide.
- Despite having the same local dealership just down the road from me, they wouldn't go anywhere near offering me the same price as I was offered via CarWow (apparently all to do with the profit and loss of the individual dealership and the overheads of running a showroom with the sales staff versus the costs of having a couple of people sat on a PC at head office dealing with CarWow quotes). Despite that, when my car was actually delivered, it was delivered to and I collected it from the local dealer.
- You can still use a local dealership to test drive the car that you want before you buy and get their advice - probably best not to mention CarWow until after the test drive
- I think you can still negotiate elements of the deal post the CarWow quote, but don't expect to get much more. Because they couldn't deliver the car to me before the tax changes on 1st April, I got them to throw in free metallic paint. I'm sure you can negotiate a free tank of fuel etc etc
- Pretty small fry when you consider the overall cost of a car, but CarWow are currently offering a £20 Amazon voucher if you review them after completion of an order. I also have a refer a friend code which will give me a £50 voucher which I'd be happy to split with you if you went ahead. Just use the link below:

Thanks chile_paul - both for the info and the offer. I take it the voucher only gets paid on a confirmed sale and not just a quote? Alas it is too late for me as I decided to buy a (then) 8 month old Golf from Motorpoint in Newport and still saved over £1000 on the same car at a dealership. The prices on Carwow were very good I grant you, but in the end they were still a reasonable chunk over my budget.
As an aside, I'd never used a car 'supermarket' like Motorpoint before either. I have to say that the whole process was smooth, professional, friendly and unhurried. My car was originally up in Derbyshire I think but the process to get it shipped closer was swift and professional. I'd recommend them. Maybe in a few years when the VW has lived it's life I may have more pennies and Carwow will again enter the equation.
Thanks again for the advice - much appreciated.0
