Where could "We Fight Any Claim" have got our personal details and what to do?

Options
This isn't exactly about reclaiming PPI, since I know I have none to reclaim. But I figure people here will know more about these companies.

We just received a pack this morning from We Fight Any Claim and are disturbed to see so much of our information there. The pack is in my wife's name, but has my details too: her full name (doesn't list my middle name), a number of companies which we actually do hold accounts with (though incorrect details such as some being packaged accounts when they never have been, and some being joint when they never were[but then their "letters of authority" only have the right ones of us on]), dates of birth, previous address (though only one).

Given that we're sure we haven't given our details out to anyone like this:
  • How might they have acquired them?
  • Should we be worried, and what should we do to protect against this? (We already check credit files periodically, about to get new statutory ones now)
  • Is there any way or any point in making a proper complaint about this to the company or regulator?
Thanks for any help

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.

Just put the "pack" through the shredder and forget about it.

They will probably have drawn your name and address details from the Electoral Register.

The rest sounds like cleverly worded guesswork, otherwise they would know that you didn't have packaged accounts etc.

Some companies try it on with fake information. Some have "obtained" old data from various sources which they have no right to but use it anyway.

Some CMCs just tell lies and seeing as most complaints involve just 6 banks, it is pretty easy for them to use those and be statistically correct in a high number of cases (regarding the provider name - not whether you had the product or not).

Some CMCs have been trawling public domain sources, such as land registry and that gives the lender name (not whether there was PPI or whether it was mis-sold).

You cant do much about it as you cannot prove they have the information outside of public domain sources.
