We paid off the mortgage on our old house over six years ago. It was with Alliance and Leicester. We are both self employed, and our accountant always tells us to look for PPI and reject or cross out any mention of it so I didn't think we had it.
Now I seems I could be wrong, as it could have been listed as something else.
I would like to check, but don't want to pay a company. Then again, I don't know where to start!
Does Alliance and Leicester Building Society still exist? If they do, I am happy to go directly to them.
It's over six years ago so I don't think even our accountant still has the details of the account.
I have checked the guides on this site, now my head hurts!!

A&L mortgages only ever retailed standalone monthly premium MPPI. So, it cant have been hidden or not easy to see. It would have had its own direct debit (that is one of the reasons why most MPPI complaints fail). It's over six years ago so I don't think even our accountant still has the details of the account.
Mortgage account doesnt matter as it would not have been built into the mortgage. That assumes you even bought it via A&L as most A&L mortgages were broker arranged.
Did you pay a monthly direct debit for MPPI? Do not mix up with life assurance or other insurances.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Yes, the mortgage was arranged by a broker. The only other direct debit I remember being related to the mortgage was the policy that was to pay off the mortgage (we converted to a repayment mortgage when I was obvious the policy wouldn't pay the mortgage).
$o it's not worth bothering with a PPI claim then?"Excuse me, this expires today, will you be reducing it?"0 -

So you can put this to bed then. A&L did not retail insurance to mortgages arranged by brokers.$o it's not worth bothering with a PPI claim then?
There is nothing to complain about. So, no.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
