fitting blinds - UPVC window

Hello
I am thinking about fitting wooden blinds. I've got a bay window and was quoted £1k by blinds company so I am really keen to do it DIY.
However I am not sure if I can drill into plastic frame? As this is sash window there is pretty much no recess so I have no choice and fit brackets into the plastic frame. I watched lots of Youtube examples but none of them drill into plastic frames.
I am also not sure if weight is not an issue. These would be wooden blinds with slate 50 mm and drop about 198cm so would weight a bit.
I attached photo of the window, I was thinking about drilling into the corner circled in red. Alternatively I could remove the old curtain track and drill there if that would make a difference.
Please advise.

Not sure , but I've just ordered wooden Venetian blinds fitted in the three rooms ( living room &2bedrooms ) for less than a grand.
The bay window in the living room takes 4 blinds. The master bedroom takes 3 blinds, and the small bedroom takes 1 . All ordered and waiting to be installed in a couple of weeks.
I'm having trouble looking at your pic. It seems a bit small. It's probably me
Someone else should help soon
Maybe if you could shop around for quotes and get the blinds fitted by supplier??0 -
I am still waiting for some other quotes but I guess London may be more expensive than anywhere else.0

I had 11-12 blinds once to fit to 6' high windows ... I contacted a locally advertising Handyman service. He said £25/hour (10 years ago) ... so I booked him. As he was fitting them I was ripping open the next pack and passing them to him. He did the whole lot in one hour - and it was a very high quality job as none of them were dodgy or loose whatsoever and I never had any issue with the fitting.
It needs to be the sort of chap who advertises "local handyman" and not some internet thingy that wants to come round and give you a quote. It's "putting blinds up...." FGS ... a competent one should just be able to give you an hourly rate and turn up and do the job.0 -
I think I go with Handyman then, looks like a good idea to me.
However something else occurred to me.
May bay window is about 198cmx118cm, 198cmx71cm, 198cmx75cm as there is not enough recess brackets need to be fixed into plastic frames of the window.
I was now wondering if wooden blinds with 50mm slat would not be too heavy? I spoke with a sales person in the showroom and she said no problem but I am not so sure.
Any advice? Never seen before wooden blinds of this size so no clue how heavy they can be.0 -
Anyone please? I just need make sure I do not end up damaging window if too heavy blinds are fixed to upvc frame.0
