Allianz stop insuring direct

For those insured directly with Allianz:
I have had an email today from Allianz to the effect that they are ceasing direct selling of both home and car insurances in the UK.

It should be noted that current policies are not affected they say, but they will not auto-renew at renewal time.
Current insurance will continue as normal until renewal date.

In which case I hope they make more of that than they seem to have done with their purchase of Cornhill.
