Clear bags for liquids

Flying to USA this week. Understand the rules around liquids and clear bags but one question. If my makeup and stuff is in a clear seethrough make up bag do I need to remove the liquids and put them in one of the clear ziplock bags for security ?

Yes, you are restricted to a one litre bag so if your make up bag is large there is no way security could be sure you were not going over your allowance.

These are the comments from US travel info:
    Liquids in hand baggage

When passing through airport security screening:
    • Each liquid you carry must be in its own container of no more than 100ml (3.4 ounces).
    • All liquids should be carried in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag of up to 20cm x 20cm (8in x 8in) with a total capacity of up to a litre (approximately one quart).
    • You must be able to completely close the bag and be able to fit it in your hand baggage.
    • The bag of liquids must be taken out of other hand baggage to be screened separately.
    • In the UK and EU, the tasting or testing of liquids, aerosols or gels on the skin will no longer be a recognised method of screening. These items will now be screened using special equipment. You may be required to open the items.
    • You will need to check the current arrangements for airports outside the UK and EU.
Sandwich bags from supermarket are ideal and cheaper than buying at airport! (In the past airport has charged £1 per bag!)

Many items in your makeup bag are considered 'liquids' eg toothpaste, lipstick, creams.
Best to sort out everything that you think qualifies in the plastic bag. Or put it in the hold where there are no such restrictions.(Yes, of course there are restrictions on lighter fuel etc- but I mean the shampoo etc.)
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Yes, you need to separate them out, non-liquid makeup like powder, eyeshadow, blush can stay in your make-up bag in your hand luggage, liquids like foundation, lip gloss (mascara and solid lipstick depends on airport), moisturiser go in the clear liquids bag and put in the security tray,

Just don't do what I did and drop the bag with foundation in on the stone floor :o Things got very messy indeed!!!

Any liquids must be separated out so not only liquids but any cream or gel makeup as well, along with mascara, lipbalm, lipstick, and any liquid-solid mixtures.
