PIP paper based assessment

I am currently on the switchover from DLA to PIP. I received DLA high rate care on an indefinite award after tribunal in 2011.

My health has largely declined so I requested to be changed over to PIP in hope to get mobility

I received my ATOS assesssor report today (Paper based review) and the health care professional has recommended 29 points for care, 16 points for mobility, no review necessary as my condition is Degenerative.

DWP have said to call back on wednesday for their decision as it was with the case manager on Thursday. Do DWP usually go off ATOS recommendations on the reports? Can't wait for this to be over so I can sleep at night

Yes they usually go from the HC report, otherwise an assessment be it paper based or not would be pointless.
Master Apothecary Faranell replied, “I assure you, overseer, the Royal Apothecary Society dearly wishes to make up for the tragic misguidance which ended so many lives. We will cause you no trouble. We seek only to continue our research in peace".
  • Thank you for your response.

I've read so many horror stories that I Wouldn't put anything past the DWP

bit surprised by the 'no review' comment as everyone one PIP is supposed to be reviewed.
i thought the longest award was 10 years
  • The HC wrote 'Degenerative condition which will continue to progress. Already receiving high levels of dependency. A review is not recommended.'

It would be very unusual for a Decision Maker to look at the assessment and reduce the points awarded, so there's nothing to worry about there. What does happen is that a DM will receive an assessment which falls slightly short of the required points and will then call the claimant. The purpose being to see if there is any possibility of increasing the score to enable the claim to go through. It's in nobody's interest for a 'near miss' to be allowed to fail, only for it to be upgraded at appeal.
