Home Insurance for Parent Living in House

Hi,

My wife owns a property (mortgaged) where her mum lives. Although she has insured previously, the renewal of her current policy seems somewhat excessive so I have been trying to get quotes form the comparison sites.

However, the difficulty arises when entering the status as my wife doesn't live in the house so technically she cannot say this on the proposal, nor can she say she is a renter.

I assume that she would have to start looking at Landlord's insurance to obtain cover, even though there is no rent charged?

Many thanks.

    .

She should check that the mortgagee is happy with that arrangement before setting it in place
